Manuel values himself over anyone else, and deems his life and happiness the most important in his view of things. Due to this he has never been in love, and doesn't think that he ever will. Manuel is also extremely ambitious, always striving for more from life, hence the reason he took leave of his home in Curacao one day however, his ambition may get the best of him. Family:
- Father- Rabbi Joseph Halevi
- Mother- Noemy Halevi
- Brother- Rafael Halevi, three years younger.
- Sister- Rochel Halevi, six years younger.
- Sister- Mira Halevi, eight years younger
- Grandfather- Shimon Kagan
Born in the Punda Quarter of Willemstad in Curacao Manuel would never leave up the dreams that his father had laid out for him. Always seeking more, from life even from a young age Manuel knew he'd never get that in Curacao.
Manuel's father, like his father before him is the Rabbi at Mikvé Israel-Emanuel, not far from where Manuel grew up. Like the rest of his siblings his father tutored Manuel and his brother in Hebrew, prayer and Halacha. The goal being that when the time came Manuel would take his place and continue the Halevi family tradition of serving god as their surname "Halevi" indicates. But this bored Manuel, he put up with the lessons but in his heart he knew that he was never going to take over as the Rabbi, there were other things in his life he wanted to do.
On his mother's side of the family his Grandfather, Shimon Kagan was a jeweler and Manuel loved hanging around his grandfather's shop learning everything he could about the gems and the craft. The beauty and their deep color, caught the young man's eye and was glad when his father allowed him to take the time to work there and earn a little spending money of his own. What his father did not realize was that this provided Manuel with an out, a way to take leave of Willemstad and thrive on his own.
Which is precisely what Manuel did, he scrimped and saved every coin he made for years and honed his craft till his skill was as renowned as his grandfather. It was at this time that his father Joseph began to realize this, and realized he was losing his oldest son and the tradition would be broken. Manuel saw no reason for worry, after all his younger brother Rafael would be more suited to the position of Rabbi than Manuel ever would and he wanted it a lot more.
Manuel said as much to his father which lead to a silence between the young man and his father for close to a week in which Manuel spent even more time in his grandfather's shop. Until his grandfather insisted Manuel apologize to his father and set things right which he promised he'd do. However, instead Manuel gathered up his money and belongings and stealing several uncut gems from his grandfather he made his way to the port and hopped onto the first boat he could not caring where he was headed. This was to be the start of a new adventure for Manuel.
This was how Manuel found himself on the island of Tortuga is Basse Terre, completely free of all of his familial obligations. Manuel sought to start his own jewelry shop like his grandfather's, the money he'd saved and the gems he'd stolen helped to achieve this. It didn't take long for Manuel's business to take off, it seemed here in Tortuga there were even more people than in Curacao who sought out Manuel's skills and craftsmanship. A large number of jewels of high quality soon passed through his door as his name became more known.
From pirates to planters, Manuel would take business from anyone who came to him as long as they could pay. He know does very well from himself and likes to be able to show it, minding his appearance and fine clothes among other things is how he shows this. Manuel has happily adapted to his new life in Tortuga, sensing that only good things will be coming to him in future.Weapon Skills:
Manuel's father refused to have his sons learn anything about weapons, it was unseemly and that was not how disagreements should be solved. However, Manuel has taken it upon himself to learn a little about swordplay, while not his greatest strength Manuel refuses to let up and and continues to learn.Anything else: Member InfoPlayer's name:
